the 2.9 million dollar photo

while watching nat geo's Genius of Photography, this photo had my fingers googling on the internet. last febuary 14, 2007 this single photographic image was auctioned at Sotheby's which started at a price of 1 million U.S. dollars and was sold to a particular collector at a whooping 2.9 million U.S. dollars making it the most expensive single photograph ever. Part of the reason for its value and rarity is that it is a very early example of colour photography, produced using the autochrome process. Contributing to its high price is that there are only three known copies in existence; there are two in museum collections in addition to the print sold at auction in 2006.

and at the end of this journey, my wonderful story begins...
