my butt hurts from sitting watching tennis games the whole day... it's my favorite pastime. you see tennis here in Lanao del Norte is more than just the usual tennis games, tennis here is money... tennis here is betting. like "sabong" it also has cristos or mga masyador (siete dyes! tres dos!). tennis with money is what we call "commercial" and it happens every weekend...every town fiestas and every turns; and being a a rising star is never too late in a tennis commercial... you can become a celebrity if "maayo ka mo duwa ug kung sige ka'g salida"... everybody will know you, ask about you and will bet on you... from 100 pesos -80,000 pesos (that's the biggest bet I heard). someone just lose 20,000 pesos this afternoon. you see, I go to tennis commercials almost every weekends and when there are special events like fiestas... I also play if there is a good pair... and the best thing about it is being popular... every tennis player know you even politicians know you. almost everyone is your friend... mura namog classmates... kun wala ka, pangitaon ka... murag absent sa klase. it's nice being here in lanao... tennis here is a phenomenon, even basketball courts had turned tennis courts... basketball players here became tennis players. everybody here loves tennis... and it's all for the fame and fortune.
